Wrapping up a week of Red Bull Sound Select shows in Austin during SXSW (but not part of SXSW), Smashing Pumpkins played Saturday night (3/16) at with The Sword, Girl in a Coma and Austin's Ringo Deathstarr opening. Unlike the other Red Bull Sound Select shows during the week (which were by Gatsby's), the Billy Corgan-led band played at 310 E. 3rd St, a location that was revealed not long before the show, and which was easily recognizable by the huge line outside after it was announced. Pictures are in this post.
Other "120 Hours in Austin" Red Bull Sound Select shows featured Best Coast, Master P, John McCauley and Friends (featuring Deer Tick), Geto Boys, and more. Opening bands are part of the Red Bull Sound Select program and could also be found playing similar shows that happened with bigger headliners in Chicago, L.A., New York, and Nashville.
