He Whose Ox is Gored

Seattle prog-doom crew He Whose Ox is Gored are streaming their new album The Camel, The Lion, The Child over at Invisible Oranges. As I also wrote on BV Chicago, the record is a very satisfying blend of early-Mastodon style riffing with a strong emphasis on melody and songcraft (IO's Joseph Schaefer compared them to early Alice in Chains, which is weirdly spot on). Throw in some psychedelia courtesy of the ever-present keyboards and can hit a bunch of disparate pleasure-centers. You can stream it below.

HWOIG are heading out on tour later this month, playing 3 Texas shows. First they will hit Austin for a show at The Mohawk on October 28 where they'll be joined by Glassing and Oro Cassini (tickets). After that they'll hit Houston for a show at The Alley Kat on October 29 with Omotai (tickets at the door). Finally they'll play in Denton on October 30 at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios (tickets).

Be sure to check our IO-sponsored show calendar for more Austin-area metal shows.
