Beloved 7th and Red River venue Barracuda has been forced to close for good.

”We have been dealing with our paychecks bouncing since SXSW and there has been absolutely no transparency on the owner’s part,” an anonymous letter, credited to employees of Beerland, reads.

”Future plans for the space are undecided at this point, according to the new owner,” a news release reads.

The Parish, one of the many venues located on Austin's famously busy 6th Street, is being put up for auction on eBay this Friday. The auction starts at $1 and will last for 10 days...

There's a new music venue in Austin. In place of his bar Midway Field House at 2015 E Riverside Dr, Emo's affiliate Jason Sabala is opening Grizzly Hall, a venue with a metal-heavy opening slate and a bunch of animal heads on the wall. The first round of shows for the venue, which is a sister benue to Buzz Mill, includes Unsane, Honky and Fuckemos on May 20, High on Fire, Eagle Claw and Bridge Far

Five songs and roughly a half dozen stage dives into his band's farewell-to-Red 7 show on Friday night, Riverboat Gamblers singer Mike Wiebe took a short breather to consider what the night meant to him, his band, and the 600 or so fans jammed in front of the club's two stages...

Red 7 will be closing earlier than initially planned, closing up shop at the end of August and now all the shows that were supposed to happen at Red 7 will be moved to Sidewinder (aka the Red Eyed Fly space down the street)...
