‘A Band Called Death’ opening in TX theaters

Detroit protopunk band Death, who were playing punk before there was punk in the early ’70s, but not widely discovered until their 2009 reissue, are finally getting their story told in the documentary, A Band Called Death. That documentary screened in Austin this past March during SXSW, when the band were also here for some shows, including a BrooklynVegan day party. Now it’s set to open in theaters around the country on June 28, including four theaters in Texas.

The documentary, which we also just hosted a free screening of in NYC, will be shown until June 30 at Alamo Drafthouse – Westlakes in San Antonio, and until July 4 at other Alamo Drafthouse theaters: Village in Austin, and Vintage Park and Mason Park in Houston. Tickets for all four theaters are available at the Drafthouse Films website.

Head to BrooklynVegan for a chance to win a new Death t-shirt. Check out the documentary trailer below….
